Commercial
nitrocellulose is generally damped with alcohol or water to prevent the
danger of
fire
accident. These damping materials, however, act as obstacles for nitrocellulose
to be applied
in urethane
resin based formulation due to their incompatiblity. Nitrocellulose can
gives necessary
hardness,
drying speed, and excellent dispersibility to the soft urethane formulation
and when it
is successfully
applied by removing alcohol and/or water, a wide range of application
becomes
possible,
e.g. coating material for high-performance magnetic tape.
Magnetic
tapes are made by applying a coating material containing magnetic iron
powder to a
polyester
film substrate. Extremely fast drying speed and highly uniform dispersion
of the powder
are
very essential for its process. Our alcohol free nitrocellulose chip HC/HM
series can meet these
requirements
and is recognized as the best binder for high-perfomance magnetic tapes.
This
property of alcohol free and extremely low in water content also allows
SwanCel a various
application
to the urethane based industry and expands its demands constantly.
